The beginning of camping in France is associated with a mutation of the urban and industrial society that arose a sensitivity to nature. The Camping club français and the Camping club de France mark the development of a peculiar relationship with nature among teachers, tourists as well as sportsmen and adventurers. It is from this history that we trace here that are derived the models of the old camper and of the tent village, a multiple form of social aggregation.
