Corsica: A Regional or Regionalized Culture?

Regional Cultures
By Georges Ravis-Giordani
English

The notion of regional culture can be analyzed as the result of an assimilation of elements imported from two main reference countries: Italy and France. The rapid modernization of agriculture, together with tourism, immigration and the massive introduction of money in social relationships has deeply modified the conditions of life, reproduction and transmission of the ancient culture born within the framework of the village community. This culture remains however a more or less fantasized referent today and is exalted more especially by the revival of the Corsican song.
