Voices and Images from Elsewhere: The Two Fables of Dom Ernetti
The “chronovisor” (device to photograph the past) has been mentioned in science fiction literature for half a century. It was introduced into practices of a neo-spiritualism concerned about giving a technical validation to the contact with the dead with the development of the tape recorder and television. Since the 90s and the development of the Internet, the chronovisor is used in electronic networks of transcommunication with the deceased. This marginal phenomenon has become a relatively frequent practice that is representative of the esoteric-mystic loose conglomeration described by Françoise Champion and Danielle Hervieu-Léger. The double fable of Dom Ernetti illustrates this networking of apparitions and clairvoyance in a constant motion between game and belief.
