In Iceland, an industrialized materialistic country that radiates prosperity, an important place is reserved to what is commonly called “supernatural.” We are concerned here with elves, those natural beings that we try to identify through the vision of those who “see” them or imagine them. Understanding their role in modern Icelandic society is a manner of analyzing the relationships of a society with its environment and even more with the world.
