The development of sciences enabled to rationalize the use of venoms. Thanks to purification techniques and to analyses of the mode of operation of venom constituents studies could be conducted along three axes : fundamental research in order to understand biological mechanisms, diagnosis of congenital or acquired diseases, and medical therapeutics, a field that knows a most significant development.
