Since the 1980s, the increase in the amount of land allocated to winegrowing in Île-de-France is a sign that, in places where it had formerly existed, the region’s vineyard has been brought back to life in another form. The article examines the persistence of winegrowing as an activity and the construction of heritage wine in the Île-de-France region. A pragmatic approach of the phenomenon is required in order to comprehend the various dimensions which are involved in Île-de-France winemaking, and the differing relations to the past which they involve. Behind the apparent uniformity of the Île-de-France vineyard, a number of issues can be identified in terms of organization of urban spaces, of sociability of district or cultural and tourist valorization of the city.
