At the National Museum of Popular Arts and Traditions, Georges Henri Rivière has treated identically the exhibition of technical and institutional or ritual facts, which resulted in a loss of understanding of their social and symbolic meanings. The paper presents the example of two exhibits related to family and kinship so as to emphazise the challenge facing the mucem in its project, within a comparative museography, to deal with the gender relationships in the Euro-Mediterranean area.
