Landscape Architects and Urban Ecology

By Françoise Dubost
English

Since the Rio Summit (1992), the themes of urban ecology have been widely popularized and are today promoted by many politicians and public developers. Landscape architects who work with natural material, such as ground, air, water, plants, are particularly interested with these topics. Their practices and speeches have changed to answer the new public commissions. One of the first landscape creations, which is inspired by notions of scientific ecology, is here presented, the natural garden in the district of the Père-Lachaise in Paris.
