Since the end of the 19th century, Breton migrants in Paris have been dealt with both in the press and political speeches. The interests of the different parties often overlap with one another since those who are commonly designated as « the Bretons of Paris » are being described by a generally involved press. During the mid-20th century, social sciences and literature conveyed a more complex reality. This article aims at showing that most of these constructions of a “Breton migrant in Paris” category demonstrates that ethnicizing social relationships ends up in erasing the plurality and heterogeneity of migratory processes.
