Abstract

kass: Research Aims and Research Design
The eu-funded kass project attempted to answer two over-arching questions: how much do relatives help each other, and why? Theoretically it aimed to widen the welfare-policy agenda by drawing on a range of different anthropological perspectives, including evolutionary cooperation theory. Methodologically it combined ethnographic research with standardised in-depth interviews about kinship networks. The present paper outlines the methodology and explains its theoretical background.
