Starting from the noticeable differences between the concepts of “repair” and “restoration,” as applied to the treatment of objects of worship, this article considers the activity of restoration as resulting and originating from a systematic work of reference to the past. Its implementation implies taking into account the sensitive biography of what is being restored in order to ensure the permanence of its moral qualities.
