Criminalization, Israelization and Skin Color. African Asylum-seekers in Israel
By Lisa Anteby-Yemini
English
African asylum-seekers, from Eritrea and Sudan, started to arrive massively in Israel in 2007, crossing clandestinely the Egyptian-Israeli border. While, in response to this non-Jewish migration, the Israeli State has tightened its geographical and political borders, the asylum-seekers are increasingly participating in Israeli economy and society. Furthermore, this article will examine the relations between Ethiopian-Israelis and African asylum-seekers.
