From the Capital of Frost to the “Centers of France”. When Measure Means Fame

Many remarkable sites are recognized for their heritage, cultural or historical value. But others are defined by meteorological or geographical features (temperature, hours of sunshine, altitude, territorial centrality). The paper examines the way in which, in France, titles of geographical capitals are attributed, contested, a qualification which the elected villages try to benefit from.
