This article discusses how Israeli lesbian and gay couples become parents through sperm donation and transnational surrogacy arrangements. Same-sex couples and public authorities sound out what space Israeli family law provides for the formation of same-sex parenthood. While doing so they not only unveil the contradictions and tensions in Israeli politics of reproduction, but also actively shape the relationship between Jewish and civil law.
