Egg donation between interest, solidarity and economic insecurity in Spain
By Anna Molas, Joan Bestard
English
In the light of the findings of a survey on egg donation in Spain a decade ago, the article shows how economic compensation and altruism are now articulated in the new context of economic crisis, particularly challenging for young women. The experiences of the informants reveal a debate that goes beyond the classification of egg donation as a “gift” or economic strategy, opening up moral debates that were previously unthinkable.
