This article explores present-day religious conversions to Islam in France through the lens of identity reconstruction when joining a new religious community. Based on more than ten years of interviews and observations, the study examines how converts are welcomed by their adoptive groups and how conversions influence relationships with family members and close friends both during and after conversion.
