Who led the “Singing Revolution” across Lithuania? A typology of the pioneers of the Sąjūdis movement

This article explores the rise of the Lithuanian Reform Movement (Sąjūdis) that contributed to the fall of the Soviet regime, focusing on the key figures of the movement in several regions of the country. Theoretically grounded in the work of Pierre Bourdieu and drawing on oral histories, the article analyzes the objective and subjective conditions that led these individuals to join the “revolutionaries” while also reconstructing a “genealogy” of Sąjūdis pioneers.
