This article describes and analyzes the particular configuration of the village of Zázrivá (Slovakia), where several companies specialized in traditional cheese dairy have developed. Through this example, it questions the relevance of the notion of artisanal district, the relationship with tradition, and the forces of local development in the post-socialist countrysides.
