Exhibition and visibility of technical gestures. The case of marble craftsmanship in Tinos
By Inés Moreno
English
The analysis of marble craftsmanship’s place in museums and national heritages, through the study of two exhibitions, enables us to explore the regimes of representation of technical gestures and their multiple presences on the island of Tinos. The observation of the effects of the heritage process on practitioners and their practices highlights the tension between making visible and concealing technical gestures, and raises questions about the ownership of this know-how.
