Sensitive chords. In and out of tune on violin making’s know-how during fieldwork

English

The subject matter here dates back 10 years. It is a topic that is not often mentioned in field notebooks. It consists of memories of fieldwork on the evolution in the transmission and apprenticeship of know-how in the world of violin making. These memories deal with dissimilar moments, gestures and objects, all of which have to do with various locations of know-how and its ownership, with the way it flows or is retained. They also relate to the characteristics of cinematographic gesture which, like any technical activity, also requires know-how. Finally, these memories highlight the power relations that impact on the transmission of know-how.
