“Releasable”. The ordinary expression of a release from juvenile prison

By Laurent SoliniEnglish
How does one get out of prison? This article looks at the release as a lived experience, i.e. as close as possible to the way it takes place in reality. The text follows Rémi, a young 17 year old boy incarcerated in the Alvar juvenile detention centre (EPM), focusing on three specific moments during his release. A detailed description of his situation and trajectory shows that his release includes traces of an “empty time” in prison, which is nevertheless expected to significantly contribute to the education/reintegration of young offenders.
