Imagining a world of choreographic creation in Burkina Faso. Projects by artists of the diaspora
By Sarah Andrieu
English
The article is based on an ethnographic research conducted in Burkina Faso within spaces of distribution and training in dance created by Burkinabè artists whose professional careers unfold in Europe or the United States. It proposes to think of these places and the projects that take place in them as concrete elements that make it possible to sustain an art world on a local scale that corresponds to the professional stakes of artists with transnational careers as much as to the expectations and hopes of younger dancers at the beginning of their careers.
